Kingdom Impact starts with kingdom attitudes—but it doesn’t end there. God calls us to kingdom action.

Last week we saw that proper beliefs about God bolster our behavior before God. We must first understand that God is all-powerful, all-wise, and all-good.
But then, per Jeremiah 29, it’s time for God’s people to get to work.
God’s people are to build.
But what shall we build? God’s Word shows us two things:
Build a life
“Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce” (Jer. 29:5).
In the midst of so many uncertainties, even in Babylonian exile, God’s people were commanded by God to make something. God’s instruction remains relevant today.
Don’t just sit back, hunker down, hide out, and wait for the misery of exile to pass beyond you. Instead, get going with your hands. Set up studs. Hang doors. Fling sawdust. Life in the kingdom means you live. Don’t limp around in limbo. Refuse to stay stuck. Put your skills to work. Plant a garden. Enjoy fresh cucumbers.
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof” (Psalm 24:1). The earth is tangible. Brick, mortar, studs, seeds, and dirt are all tangible. And so is the kingdom. So build a life.
Build a legacy
Building a life is not about creating “your best life now.” In fact, your life and now are not even the main focus of your building project. We build for others with the future in mind.
“Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease” (Jer. 29:6).
Your life is not a one-and-done experience. You are a conduit, not a cul-de-sac. Invest for the time to come. Start a family. Strengthen your home. Stay the course. Love your spouse. Lead your kids. Labor for grands and great-grands. Fill the earth. Hammer out a heritage. Leave a legacy.
