Six Reasons Why Woke Won't Work

Christians often hear that their conservative, biblical views of sexuality put them on the “wrong side of history.” However, it is actually the liberal, left-leaning secular society that finds itself on history’s backside.

Here are six reasons why woke won't work.
First, woke whacks at God’s wondrous world.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and he made male and female after his own image.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them (Genesis 1:27).
The Divine dictates the design. And His divine design involves a distinct and marvelous male-female pattern in the created order. And this, the Creator says, is “very good.”
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good (Genesis 1:31).
Humans do not ultimately get to decide what is good and beautiful—God does. Therefore, when mere mortals seek to undo God’s divine design, they will inevitably find themselves on a losing trajectory.
Second, LGBTQ+ lambasts God’s law.
God’s creation clearly communicates his intentions for human sexuality—but lest anyone turn a deaf ear to the Lord’s objective, his law shouts it from the legislative rooftop.
Notice the term “abomination.”
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination (Leviticus 18:22).
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them (Leviticus 20:13).
Some folks think you cannot legislate morality. But God the Lawgiver obviously thinks otherwise. And no wave of new cultural norms can cancel God’s code of conduct for his creatures. The Supreme Ruler of the universe makes the rules, despite what our lower courts “decide.”
Obergefell may be the so-called “law of the land.” But make no mistake—this 2015 landmark decision of the “high court,” which made same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states, lines up opposite of God’s law.
Third, queer cuts contrary to Christ.
Some say Jesus never entrenched himself in sexual ethics. Unfortunately for those who hold to such a view, both Jesus and the Apostle Paul counter that claim.
Note the words of Jesus:
[Jesus] answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?” (Matthew 19:4-5).
Note the words of Paul:
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted (1 Timothy 1:8-11).
Fourth, pride paves a destructive path.
In God’s sovereign plan, it’s ironic that Pride groups wave a rainbow flag as their beloved banner. After all, the first time the rainbow gets its mention in the Holy Scriptures, a torrential flood had just covered the whole earth—and this because of “wickedness” and “violence” (see Genesis 6:5, 11).
Speaking of violence, ever wonder why the liberal mainstream media rarely reports rampant cases of abuse among lesbians and pedophilia among homosexual men?
And then there’s the glaring problem of pride itself. The Bible has much to say about a haughty spirit—and it’s not good.
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate (Proverbs 8:13).
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom (Proverbs 11:2).
Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished (Proverbs 16:5).
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).
Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor (Proverbs 18:12).
One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor (Proverbs 29:23).
Flaunting one’s puke-level perversion in private or in public is a sure-fire recipe for God’s wrath. Indeed, according to Romans 1:18-32, the present perversion pervading our planet—think drag queen story hour in local libraries—is actually a part of the judgment itself.
Fifth, truth always triumphs.
For all the madness and mania of same-sex marriage and transgenderism, truth tends to tout itself.
That’s because DNA does not lie. The notion of nonbinary is nonsense. And the idea that a man can become a woman or a woman can become a man? Talk about a myth of Loch Ness Monster proportions. Again, that’s because chromosomes do not care about the color of your hair or the number of your mastectomies.
Truth is truth—always.
You can disguise the truth with DEI propaganda, but you cannot place a gag order on reality. Anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear will see straight through the insanity. No matter how hard trans folks scream and stomp their feet, they will not be able to reverse the way the world works.
Sixth, God’s glory will engulf the globe.
Truth and beauty will, in God’s time, rule and reign on this terrestrial ball. Jesus promised the “gates of hell shall not prevail” against his church (Matt. 16:18). The stain and stench of hyper-sexualized sin (and its ugly mutations) will not stink and fester forever. The lewd lust will not last long. This present darkness will someday be cast out.
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).
Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood (Revelation 22:15).
Meanwhile, the glory of God’s people will shine brighter than the sun.
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it (Revelation 21:23-24).
I look forward to the day when former trans folks, once enslaved to their earthly passions, are completely transformed by the renewing of their minds as they humbly walk (free of all pride) in the newness of Christ’s life, having been purchased by his blood.
Notice Paul’s words to those who had previously been overcome by sexual immorality—don’t miss that these words immediately follow his listing of the kind of folks who will not inherit the kingdom of God (see 1 Corinthians 6:9):
And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:11).
Real change is possible—indeed predestined—for God’s people. No one needs to buy into the age-old lie that people cannot change. Change is possible because of Christ. No matter your background, no matter your past or present, God can transform you from the inside out.
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers (Romans 8:29).
Woke may be broke. But thankfully the Bible shows us another way—the way, the truth, and the life.
